Description
Bactris caudata (also called Caudate Palmetto, among many other common names) is a palm tree native to Central America. It has a slender trunk and grows in coastal areas and dry forests. It is found in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Bactris caudata is small, yellow and tubular. The seed is a small, black, round nut. The seedlings are small and thin.
Cultivation and Propagation
Bactris caudata can be propagated by seed or division. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Water regularly during the growing season, but reduce watering in winter. Fertilize once a year with a balanced fertilizer.
