Description
Astrocaryum malybo (also called 'Mauritia flexuosa', among many other common names) is a species of palm tree native to tropical South America. It has a single trunk, up to 20 m tall, with a diameter of up to 40 cm. Its leaves are pinnate, up to 4 m long, with leaflets up to 1 m long. It is found in wet lowland forests, as well as in seasonally flooded areas.
