It has large, white-spiked flowers with yellow-green foliage. It is native to Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. It typically grows in humid montane forests at elevations of 1000-2500 m.
