Description
Amorphophallus synandrifer (also called Synandrous Skunk Cabbage, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to North America. It grows in moist woods, swamps, and along streams, and has large, heart-shaped leaves and a tall, yellowish-green flower spike.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Amorphophallus synandrifer has a large, white flower with a yellow center. The seeds are round and black. The seedlings are small, green and have a single leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Amorphophallus synandrifer can be propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained, sandy soil and kept moist. Division should be done in early spring or fall. Plants should be spaced about 1-2 feet apart.
