Description

Pimpinella acronemastrum (also called Acronemastrum Pimpinella, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Europe and Asia. It has a basal rosette of leaves and a flowering stem that grows up to 40 cm tall. The leaves are pinnate, with toothed leaflets. The flowers are white or pinkish-white and are borne in umbels. It grows in dry grassland, scrubland, and rocky slopes.

Cultivation and Propagation

When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse for at least their first winter. Division in spring or autumn. Larger clumps can be replanted direct into their permanent positions, though it is best to pot up smaller clumps and grow them on in a cold frame until they are rooting well. Plant them out in the spring.
