Ruellia neesiana (also called Nees' Ruellia, among many other common names) is an evergreen shrub native to India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. It grows up to 2 m in height and has lance-shaped leaves. It is found in the moist forests of the Western Ghats and the Eastern Ghats. Its habitat is in the understory of the forest, where it grows in the shade of the trees.
