Description
Justicia flagelliformis (also called 'Flamingo Plant' or 'Shrimp Plant', among many other common names) is a shrub-like perennial with long, thin, bright green leaves. It is native to Mexico, Central America, and South America, and is found in tropical and subtropical climates. It grows best in moist, well-drained soil in partial shade.

Justicia flagelliformis has white or pink flowers with yellow throats. The flowers are arranged in clusters and have five petals. The seeds are small, black and oval-shaped. The seedlings are small and have oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Justicia flagelliformis is a fast-growing, evergreen shrub that can reach up to 6 feet in height. It prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Propagation is best done by cuttings in the spring or early summer. Take 3-4 inch cuttings and dip them in rooting hormone before planting in moist potting soil. Keep the soil moist and provide bright, indirect light until the cuttings have rooted.
