Gin and Juice market overview after rap legends release cocktail line

Gin and juice

30 years after the song “Gin and Juice” came out, Snoop Dogg and Dr.Dre have unveiled a cocktail line of four fruity drinks. They made the announcement on February 12, 2024.

This release by the legendary musical and cultural stars includes four flavors namely apricot, melon, citrus and passion fruit.  The label of each canned drink reflects the corresponding color of the fruit it represents.

Snoop Dogg released the eponymous song with its acclaimed solo presentation in early 1994 from a 1993 album produced by Dre.

Upshot Gin Market Growth

Talking of presentation, the new spirits line comes at a time when the world’s gin market is growing by 5.35% per year. According to Statista, this momentum will sustain through 2028, due to increased home-based gin orders.

About 46% of gin lovers aged 44 and above prefer drinking it at home. They usually buy from spirits stores or supermarkets.

Data shows that such home drinkers will generate $10.3 billion for gin companies in 2024. The UK is the leading country in the world with most people who take gin at home. Hence, revenue for home-based purchases in that country will hit $2.3 million in 2024.

Enter Sparkling  Juice

From rappers promoting fruity cocktails to people ordering drinks at home, mixing gin and juice seems like the way forward.  Sure enough, the sizzling result of blending fruit juices with alcohol has morphed into a product niche, namely ‘sparkling juice.’

The worldwide market for sparkling juice grew to $82 million in 2022. It is slated to double in revenue to $166.6m between 2022 and 2031 at a compounded growth rate of 8.2%.

The growth owes to the fact that customers are looking for low sugar alternatives of carbonated beverages. Sparkling juices contain the natural sugars of fruits or lectin and are thus healthier than sweetened carbonated drinks.

Gin and juice drinks are usually less fruity than sparkling juice as they contain at least 40% alcohol by volume (ABV). Most pure gins come with a 37.5% ABV, while the rest is usually water. Juice makes a better substitute to water due to its healthy nutrients, hence the popularity of the gin and juice types.

Multi-ingredient Fruity Gin and Juice

Some people like to mix their gin and juice from homemade ingredients rather than buy ready-to-drink cans. Here is such an ingredient set for blending a sparkling pomegranate gin and juice cocktail:

  • 3 oz gin
  • 2 oz pomegranate juice
  • 1 oz maple syrup
  • grapefruit and rosemary

While the above set may not leave every individual ingredient stuck to the palette, it is worth it for home blending.

Given the fact that gin and juice are popular choices, prices are usually within reach. An orange-flavoured bitter gin costs $16.99 per 5 oz (15ml) while American gin costs cheaper, at least $24 per liter.

Ultimately, with the expected gin market growth, it is no wonder that rap icons are also pulling their act together.
