An Omsk businessman shipped 800 tons of food wheat to the Republic of Kazakhstan by water transport on the Irtysh River. Quarantine phytosanitary status of shipped consignments met the requirements of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the specified types of products.

Since the beginning of the year, specialists of the regional Rosselkhoznadzor department have inspected 5 big lots of food wheat with a total weight of 2853 tons shipped by water transport to the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since April 10, 2023 the Republic of Kazakhstan has imposed a ban on the import of wheat into the country by road from third countries and the Eurasian Economic Union for six months, which does not apply to shipments by rail and water transport.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Omsk region on the official website, the region continues to increase exports of food products and agricultural raw materials.

This year, supplies from the region have been delivered to 35 countries. The main importers of Omsk products are China, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus.

In order to comprehensively develop an export support system, as well as the formation of mechanisms to create favorable conditions for the development of export activities in the Omsk region, the region has an Export Council under the head of the region, Vitaly Khotsenko.

Exports of agricultural products in the Omsk region for the first 5 months of 2023 amounted to 159.4 million dollars, which is 8.4% more than during the same period last year. Grain and oilseed crops, confectionery, cereal products and beverages account for the main export volume.

“Export potential is an important factor in the development of the region’s economy. According to the results of 2022, the state’s support, in the amount of 493 million rubles, was rendered to the regional exporters. By the order of the head of the region, Vitaly Pavlovich Khotsenko, in 2023, the work to support exports in the agro-industrial complex and increase its volume, continues. The increase of exports of agricultural products is ensured, among other things, by means of the participation of regional organizations. This is in the realization of state support measures that involve preferential tariffs for grain transportation, compensation of transportation costs of agricultural and food products, as well as preferential crediting of organizations that produce export-oriented products,” said Nikolay Drofa, Minister of Agriculture and Food of Omsk region.

In addition, within the framework of the federal project “Export of Agricultural Products,” agricultural producers receive state support in the form of partial reimbursement of costs to stimulate the production of oilseeds. For 2023, the financing of the regional project for this type of support will amount to 91.4 million rubles. For the period from 2019 to 2022, agricultural producers of the region received support to stimulate the production of oilseeds in the amount of 193 million rubles. Also, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Omsk region is constantly interacting with the Export Support Center of the Omsk region in order to expand the participation of export producers in international business missions, exhibition and fair events.
