Thailand: “raise the level of southern halal”

News summary: with the onset of exports of halal livestock meat products to the Middle East and South-east Asian Islamic nations, Thailand is poised to raise the quality of its meat obtained from the southern region.

Thai halal livestock products have begun to be accepted for export to several Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Malaysia and Brunei.

But there are many more markets among Arab countries, especially in Asia and the Middle East that are ready for Thai livestock products to flow if the products meet aseptic expectations and are sold completely according to religious principles.

Carpeting operations aimed at expanding the long-awaited halal livestock market operations continued again in the southern areas with dense Muslim populations. Thai’s exhibitors also operated in an area adjacent to Islamic countries like Malaysia at the International Halal Exhibition and Conference 2023 (World HAPEX 2023) organized by the Halal Institute at the Prince of Songkhla University.

Thailand’s Department of Livestock Development participated in the exhibition on the concept  of“Healthy Halal Livestock,” starting from the upstream to the downstream of meat production. The exhibition passed the standard supervision from the Department of Livestock Development. At the same time, the department certified Halal standards as outlined by the Central Islamic Council of Thailand  in this project to develop and promote the halal industry in livestock.

The Department of Livestock Development has invited those interested to provide more information or ask for advice on raising the health standard of Halal livestock products. This can be done at the country’s Bureau of Livestock Product Standards and Certification.
