Analysts have predicted huge red meat and products from dairy sales as the coronation of King Charles III starts today in the UK. The Brits who are known for loving a party will throng streets to enjoy the weekend.
The coronation that is slated to take place on Saturday, May 6 promises to show the celebratory side of Britons with an expected increase in spending on food, especially with barbecues and wild partying on the streets.
In 2022, statistics from several sources showed that there was a 50% increase in sales of burgers during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. A whopping 853,000 kg was subsequently bought throughout the week.
This was further complimented by the dairy sector which saw more 724,000 liters of fresh cream being sold during the course of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. That hovered around a 33% increase as compared to an average week in 2022.

The AHDB’S senior retail insight Manager Kim Heath said that Britons do love a party and events like the King’s coronation can present a perfect opportunity to make unprecedented sales of both red meat and dairy. This further included the ultimate party munch of choice that is sausage rolls which saw a 30% increase in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations followed by pork pie purchases at 28% and sausage at 9%.
AHDB Marketing Head Carrie McDermid said that they were delighted to see that the ubiquitous roast lamb is featured on the menu for King Charles III’s coronation, further saying that the choice is a momentous and memorable celebration of a lifetime with family and friends.
She further intimated that Ken Hom’s royal recipe shows the fantastic flavor of UK lamb which portrays the King’s passion for the environment and the UK livestock farmer’s contribution in the sustainable food chain production.
This she augmented by saying that she hopes the average UK family will be encouraged by the coronation to enjoy lamb from the UK, that is produced with World class food standards for a healthy and balanced diet.
Not to be outdone Morrisons has launched XL Ribs and XL Ribeye steak for the King’s coronation. The two meaty indulgences are deemed to be the perfect treats for a perfect royal dining.
The new King Ribeye steak is currently or will be going for £19.99/Kg and serves two people with it being five times larger than the regular ribeye steak. The King Ribeye steak has been sourced by Morrisons from high quality British cattle.

People have been invited across the UK by the government to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla over the weekend from May 6 to 8, 2023. The government further said a host of events will be carried out across the nation to mark the Coronation.
Families and communities across the UK have been called upon by the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak to come together and celebrate the coronation after he announced a new Bank holiday that will fall on Monday, May 8.
