US beef export values
In 2019, US exported beef with a value of 7,713.29m USD, a reduction of -3.88% from 2018's total beef export of 8024.25m USD. The yearly change in value of US beef between 2017 to 2018 was 15.788 percent.
The yearly variation in the volume of US' beef exports between 2017 and 2019 was 4.89 pc when compared to a variation of -2.795% in the growth rate between 2018 and 2019.
US' portion of the world's total beef's exports in 2019 was less than 1%. The country holds position 15 in world exports of beef.

Expect higher prices in 2024
Beef cattle prices, which are the key determinants of beef prices, were up by 5% in 2024 in comparison to 2023. Month-on-month price changes in early 2024 indicated low herd numbers and hence the price rise.
For instance, in February 2024, fed cattle prices increased by $2 to $185 per hundredweight in January. As a result, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) forecast a 2% fall in beef production for the entire 2024, to less than the 26.455 billion pounds of 2023. This is however a slight fall, for analysts had expected a greater slump.
In 2023, retail ground beef, steak and veal prices increased by about 3.8% or 2.6%+_5.2%. This was in line with the projections by USDA, which had indicated that all food prices in the United States were to rise by 5.8% by end 2023 due to inflation.
Generally, the retail prices of US beef have mostly espoused a difference of around 13 cents per pound between the highest and lowest prices since the beginning of 2023. The highest price was in October while the lowest in February. In 2022, the retail difference between the highest and lowest prices was around 15 cents.
