The following four species are most common in the Netherlands
1. Adriatic H. Mammata

Weighing as little as 200g in fluid weight, the Adriatic H. mammata sea cucumber was once a rare sight. However, recent studies show that it is common and abundant in the rarely-fished Adriatic waters near Croatia. It prefers shallow depths of 1 to 30 meters deep.
2. H. arguinensis
Current price: from EUR 300 ($321.09) per kg
H. arguinensis is a commercial sea cucumber from the Mediterranean and North-east Atlantic seaboards. It has been a focus of trade since the 1990s. So prized by fishermen is it, that it has been a subject of illegal harvesting for years.
3. Arctic Sea Cucumber (Wild Iceland Sea cucumber)

It thrives in mid-to-deep sea ocean floors in the cold glaciers of the Arctic sea. There is also the related E. glacialis species which, according to scientists, might actually inhabit shallow icy waters.

A Mediterranean and tropical sea creature, Stichopus sea cucumber is available in seafood markets in Holland at a premium price. Most retail stores stock it in dried form in packages of 400 g and above that cost at least EUR 321 per package.
